Location: Ruminant Diseases and Immunology Research
Project Number: 5030-32000-229-096-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Aug 1, 2026
End Date: Jul 31, 2028
Objective:
The cooperator maintains herds of cattle for research purposes, including vaccination trials. The objective of this agreement is to complete two cattle bovine respiratory disease vaccination studies to assess: 1) impact of antigenic load of combination vaccines on protective immunity to individual pathogens. 2) Assess prime-boost vaccination strategies that include mucosal administration to improve immune response at site of infection.
Approach:
The cooperator, who maintains herds of cattle for research purposes, including vaccination trials will utilize their animals, or supplement herd for vaccination trials. Cooperator will work with ARS scientists to develop vaccination strategies and obtain commercially available products to complete the studies. Cooperator staff will house, feed, and maintain the animals for the duration of the studies. The cooperator and ARS scientists will collect samples, analyze, interpret and report results to the stakeholders.
