Research Project: Exploration of Watershed/Field Scale Modeling on Hydrologic, Nutrient, and Soil Erosion Processes

Location: National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory

Project Number: 5020-12130-004-032-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2026
End Date: Jun 30, 2030

Objective:
1. Evaluate hydrologic, nutrient, and soil erosion processes using watershed/field-scale modeling tools across diverse environmental conditions. 2. Integrate modeling data from ARS and Morgan State University to enhance model performance and process understanding. 3. Develop modeling workflows that support conservation planning and sustainable water resource management for American farmers.

Approach:
1. Apply and compare process-based models for hydrologic and environmental assessment. 2. Conduct joint parameterization, calibration, and validation using shared datasets and the corresponding processing pipelines. 3. Interpret modeling results to identify drivers of watershed/field responses and inform management strategies.
