Research Project: Genome Analyses of Soybean and its Pathogens

Location: Soybean/maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics Research

Project Number: 5012-22000-023-017-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2025
End Date: Sep 30, 2029

Objective:
The primary objective of this collaborative project is to advance research on soybean and pathogen genetics. These efforts will be supported by assistance with approaches to genome sequence analysis as well access to critical resources, including laboratory instruments, chemical reagents, office space and shared scientific expertise, analysis of transgenics. Additionally, the partnership will promote the joint development of competitive research proposals aimed at securing external funding to support long-term investigation and sustainable management of soybean diseases, and lead to co-authorship of scientific manuscripts.

Approach:
1. Establish Collaboration: We will define roles and responsibility of key collaborators and schedule regular meetings to align objectives, shared resources, draft manuscripts, and develop research milestones. 2. Approaches: Sequence pathogen isolates to allow comparative genome analyses and pathogen population dynamics. Sequence analyses of soybean genomes and genome-wide association mapping of disease associated traits, analyze soybean transgenics 3. Proposal Development: We will prepare competitive research proposals targeting external funding opportunity.
