Research Project: Effects of Prescribed Burns and Grazing Regimes on Spider Abundance and Richness

Location: Pest Management Research

Project Number: 3032-21220-003-015-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 13, 2025
End Date: Aug 12, 2026

Objective:
Objectives of research include (1) determining if season of prescribed burn alters spider abundance and overall communities and (2) how different grazing regimes affect spider communities

Approach:
Cooperator will identify spiders from pitfall traps, pan traps, and sweep nets that were collected within experimental rangeland plots that have had prescribed fire applied within different seasons and areas that have had different grazing pressure (e.g., cattle, bison, prairie dog). Cooperator will sort, curate, and identify all spiders from the different experimental plots and analyze all data collected.
