Location: Pest Management Research
Project Number: 3032-30400-002-001-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jun 15, 2026
End Date: May 31, 2027
Objective:
Cooperator will collect bumble bees (Bombus pensylvanicus) across varying land use categories including agriculture, forest, developed, and conservation plantings in addition to collating other known records (museum, published records, etc.). These data will aid our understanding of the population and distribution of this important fruit and vegetable crop pollinator.
Approach:
Cooperator will use sweep nets to collect bumble bees from different land use types throughout the growing season of several crop species (June-October). Cooperator will sort and curate bumble bee specimens, build a large dataset on museums and published records, and analyze all data collected.
