Objective:
Develop methods for screening germplasm for Pythium resistance in peanut and screen peanut mini-core accessions for resistance.
Approach:
Single-seed descent-derived peanut accessions from the U.S. and ICRISAT mini-core collections, as well as recombinant inbred line populations, will be evaluated in the greenhouse for resistance to Pythium pod rot. Markers associated with disease resistance will be identified using genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
