Welcome to the Pullman Location

There are six Management Units in Pullman, Washington, conducting research on grain and legume genetics, plant germplasm introduction and testing, animal diseases, integrated pest management, soil erosion, air and water quality, cereal crop diseases, wheat root diseases and biological control. ARS in Pullman is located primarily on the Washington State University campus. Research takes place on campus as well as several sites throughout Washington State, including Mount Vernon, Walla Walla, Prosser, Central Ferry and Lind, as well as Arizona, California, Montana, and Idaho, including a research site on the University of Idaho campus.

 

Mission:
The Pullman location consists of 6 research units. The location established a TEAMS (Towards Enhanced Agricultural Management Systems) WorkGroup which would focus the research of six units (Wheat Genetics, Plant Germplasm, Grain Legume Genetics, Land Management/Water Conservation, Root Disease, and Weed Science on sustainable agriculture issues using an integrated, multidisciplinary research approach. The TEAMS Work Group addresses Pacific Northwest agroecosystem processes and long-term implications of farming practices on economic, production, environment and social concerns. The Animal Diseases Research's mission is to perform basic and applied research on persistent diseases of domestic animals to provide methods for diagnosis, immune-protection and a detailed under-standing of the disease processes, leading to disease management and control.
