This paper reports 38 genera and 81 species of chigger mites associated with birds, reptiles, and mammals known from Panama. This information would be useful for people working in Acari, domestic and wild animals, quarantine, agriculture, medical, and veterinary fields. Technical Abstract: An updated checklist 26 of chiggers from the family Trombiculidae and Leeuwenhoekiidae is presented, with 81 species in 38 genera all parasitizing different vertebrate hosts in Panama. The depository for all Panamanian records, including new locality and host records is provided. |
