It was first identified on Agrostis stolonifera in Japan in 2005 and has become a widespread disease of Poa annua in the United States since 2007. Technical Abstract: Brown ring patch, sometimes referred to as Waitea Patch, is an emerging disease of cool-season turfgrasses. It was first identified on Agrostis stolonifera in Japan in 2005 and has become a widespread disease of Poa annua in the United States since 2007. It has also been reported on P. trivialis and Lolium perenne used for overseeding in the southern United States, A. stolonifera and P. pratensis in China, and A. stolonifera in British Columbia, Arizona, and Spain.
