Interpretive Summary: Next generation sequencing technology was used to sequence transcriptomes from adult females collected from the cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus. These samples included newly molted unfed whole adult females, newly molted whole adult females feeding for 2 hours on a bovine host, and newly molted unfed whole adult females enclosed within a gas permeable bag attached to the side of a bovine host such that the ticks could sense the animal but could not feed. Additionally, all raw reads from the unfed, fed, and frustrated sequence datasets were pooled and reassembled into a "global" adult female tick transcriptome. Each corresponding dataset of assembled transcripts has been deposited at NCBI under the BioProject accession number PRJNA431211. The BioSample accession numbers are SAMN08405855-SAMN08405857, for the unfed, 2 hour fed, and 3 hour frustrated samples, respectively. The BioSample accession numbers for the pooled samples are the SAMN08405855- SAMN08405857 accession numbers for the 3 datasets that comprise the pooled dataset. The Transcriptome Shotgun Assembly project accession numbers for the unfed, 2 hour fed, 3 hour frustrated, and pooled samples are GGNZ00000000, GGOC00000000, GGOD00000000, and GGOG00000000, respectively.
