Interpretive Summary: Many plant diseases are spread principally by leafhopper insects. In order to communicate effectively about these pests, it is essential that every species has a name. However, there are many leafhopper groups that have received little attention and therefore contain many undescribed species. This paper described one such species in a group containinf over 116 genera and over 700 species, based on specimens from Chile discovered in the National Insect Collection. It will improve the efficiency of governmental (including APHIS), and research workers in communication and quarantine of potential pest species.

Technical Abstract: A new species, C. serrulatus sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Chile. A redescription of this genus is provided together with a key to species for males.
