Citation: Woodley, N.E. 2013. A revision of the Neotropical genus Paraberismyia Woodley (Diptera, Stratiomyidae, Beridinae) with three new species. ZooKeys. 353:25-45.

Interpretive Summary: Many species of soldier flies are beneficial to agriculture in that their larvae help to decompose plant material, dung, and decaying animal matter, although a few species are known to attack living plants, such as grass roots. This publication provides a review of a group of soldier flies from Mexico and Central America, providing a description of three new species, identification aids to all four known species, and illustrations of diagnostic features. This work will enable scientists, quarantine workers such as those in APHIS, and others concerned with flies to identify and correctly name these insects.

Technical Abstract: The genus Paraberismyia Woodley, 1995, is revised. Three new species, P. chiapas sp. n, P. mathisi sp. n, and P. triunfo sp. n are described, all having type localities in Chiapas, Mexico. A key to the four known species is provided.
