Technical Abstract: This chapter discusses the impact of insect infestations on the quality of postharvest nuts. The chapter first reviews the biology of key field pests that may be found in harvested nuts, and pests found in nut storage and processing facilities. The chapter then reviews current and developing control strategies, including sanitation, cultural orchard controls, mating disruption, monitoring methods, whole-facility treatments, non-chemical disinfestation treatments, and chemical fumigation.
