Interpretive Summary: Wireworms are important pests of potatoes throughout North America. The means by which wireworms locate the potato host plant are briefly reviewed, and shown to include chemical cues that act to prompt long-distance orientation, and other chemicals that act as feeding stimulants. The possibility of using this information in formulating baits that could then be used in attract-and-kill management programs for wireworms is assessed.
