V(12):2-4. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Sampling studies were done in spring 2005 to determine how depth of Pacific Coast Wireworm, Limonius canus, in the soil profile changes week-to-week. Sampling showed that a fairly large percentage (up to 24%) of wireworms occurred deep in the soil profile (2-3 feet below surface) until late April, as soil temperatures at 1 foot approached 60 degrees F. Results suggest that a significant percentage of wireworms occur deep in the soil profile at the time that growers initiate soil treatments for pest control. |
