Objective:
The Cooperator will produce a downscaled soil moisture map for the Long Term Agro-ecosystem Research Network at three depths, 5 cm, 20 cm, and 50 cm at a daily temporal resolution and 400 m spatial resolution for the years 2015-2025. These data will be validated at available soil moisture stations within the research network. These data will be able to inform and populate a digital twin model at each of the research sites for long term regional analysis of soil health and productivity for a variety of agricultural landscapes.
Approach:
The Cooperator will use available satellite data during the available time period and downscale currently available products to a higher resolution using models and remote sensing information for improved service to farmers and ranchers who need soil moisture data at the subfield scale.
