Objective:
Monitor potential incursion of Ug99 and other virulent stem rust races into the United States through sentinel plots.

Approach:
1) Plant wheat and establish and maintain stem rust sentinel plots in Castroville, Uvalde, Corpus Christi, Wharton, College Station, Ellis County, Greenville, Chillicothe, Bushland, and Dumas; 2) Observe and report stem rust development; and 3) collect stem rust samples and evaluate for race-typing.
