Location: Application Technology Research
Project Number: 5082-21620-001-022-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Feb 1, 2023
End Date: Feb 1, 2028
Objective:
New ISO project for 22368–1 (Test methods for the evaluation of cleaning systems – Internal cleaning of complete sprayers) will be proposed in 2022 ISO SC6 plenary meeting. Its objective is to replace copper oxychloride (current test material) to environmentally friendly test material, kaolinite (kaolin clay). This project will help equipment manufacturers to simplify the inventory of the test materials as it is already being used in another ISO sprayer testing standard.
Approach:
The project goals are to address uncertainty by providing necessary laboratory techniques and to provide technical advice to AEM (Association of Equipment Manufacturers) member
(s) during the ISO 22368-1 project to test kaolinite as a test substance. Details are below:
- Provide technical expertise and support for ISO 22368 and other related projects/tests.
- Evaluate and provide analytical techniques/instruments to measure/predict concentrations of kaolinite suspensions.
o Develop and evaluate an ICP (Inductive Coupled Plasma) method to measure concentrations of kaolin clay suspensions including a report for AEM members to use it as a reference.
o Evaluate ARS microcontroller-based device for analysis of (kaolin clay) concentrations of residue samples from ISO 22368 sprayer cleanout tests.
- Provide understanding and knowledge of analytical techniques in proceeding or technical paper(s) so ISO 22368 project team can use as a references.
