Research Project: Co-hosting the Annual Science Long-term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) Network Working Meeting, May 18-21, 2026

Location: Agroecosystems Management Research

Project Number: 5030-13000-012-023-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 16, 2026
End Date: Sep 30, 2026

Objective:
To advance science on new management precision technologies and innovative sensing and modeling tools, including, data management tools for the American farmer/rancher, to be used for making U.S. agriculture production, again, the most competitive in the world. Develop network partnerships that accelerate the adoption of innovative management technologies, advanced sensors, and AI-driven modeling tools in agricultural production. Participants will engage in science-based discussions with ARS and stakeholders and field demonstrations, all designed to develop new solutions and action plans that are optimal for use across ecoregions in the U.S.A. By bridging science, industry, and producers’ feedback, the working meeting ensures that U.S. farmers and ranchers have the tools they need to remain competitive in global markets while advancing regenerative agroecosystem practices.

Approach:
Co-host the following: • Session on science-driven solutions that promote regenerative agriculture: Scientists, producers, and industry leaders share knowledge and perspectives on how scientific knowledge can yield transformative solutions on the ground. • Hands-on field demonstrations: Field-based sessions showcasing cutting-edge tools and practices that remove knowledge barriers for adoption. • Session on partnership building: Networking opportunities to strengthen collaboration and co-production across research, industry, extension, and farming communities to develop agile and resilient solutions at the U.S.A. continental scale. • Session on innovation focus for the future: Spotlight on future technologies that enhance agriculture productivity, sustainability, and U.S. competitiveness. • Session on action plan: Develop an action plan with all partners on synthesizing long-term observations to develop science-based solutions for the American farmer.
