Research Project: Ground-based Evapotranspiration Observations in Support of Remote Sensing-based ET toolkit for Improved Irrigation Management in Vineyards

Location: Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory

Project Number: 8042-13610-030-067-T
Project Type: Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Feb 2, 2023
End Date: Jan 31, 2028

Objective:
Maintenance of eddy covariance flux tower network in vineyards for continuous monitoring of surface energy balance and evapotranspiration in support of the satellite-based ET toolkit.

Approach:
Through routine monitoring sensor observations and periodic recalibration and episodic repair of flux tower sensors, an accurate and near-continuous ET observations from the flux tower network will permit ground truthing of the satellite-based ET toolkit for improving water use efficiency of irrigation and conservation by developing more reliable irrigation scheduling tools operated by Cooperator.
