Objective:
The objective of the agreement is to monitor potential incursion of Ug99 and other virulent stem rust races into the United States through sentinel plots.
Approach:
1) Plant wheat and establish and maintain stem rust sentinel plots in Uvalde, Castroville, Beeville, Wharton, College Station, Gregory, Bushland and Amarillo; 2) Observe and report stem rust development; and 3) collect stem rust samples and evaluate for race-typing.
