Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jun 1, 2020
End Date: May 31, 2024
Objective:
The long-term goal of this project is to expand the agricultural workforce that is well trained in subjects relevant to plant genetic resources (PGR) acquisition, preservation, distribution, evaluation, and utilization.
(1) To create an administrative framework for prioritizing, developing, reviewing, and distributing learning resources on PGR.
(2) To develop an organized series of videos, web pages, documents, and images covering priority PGR topics.
(3) To establish an online repository to host, organize, provide access to, and track usage of the developed content.
(4) Based on the resources developed in Objective 2, to develop graduate level online courses at CSU and ISU on PGR conservation and their use in plant breeding and genetics.
(5) To disseminate the developed materials broadly through announcements, presentations, webinars, and journal articles.
Approach:
(1) Create an administrative framework for prioritizing, developing, reviewing, and distributing learning resources on PGR.
(2) Develop an organized series of videos, web pages, documents, and images covering priority PGR topics.
(3) Establish an online repository to host, organize, provide access to, and track usage of the developed content.
(4) Based on the resources developed above, develop graduate level online courses at Cooperators’ institutions on PGR conservation and their use in plant breeding and genetics.
(5) Disseminate the developed materials broadly through announcements, presentations, webinars, and journal articles and through a new website interface developed by the National Germplasm Resources Laboratory.
