Will aphid-resistant soybean lines be useful for developing soybean cultivars able to withstand the varied array of virulent soybean aphid biotypes? We are conducting both field and laboratory trials to identify lines of domesticated and wild soybean that are resistant to soybean aphid. The evaluations are conducted in collaboration with land grant universities and private industry. Photo by Eric Beckendorf.

Since its inception in 2011, the NCARL People's Garden has produced nearly 9000 pounds of fresh produce, all which were donated to non-profit food distribution programs in the Brookings community. The Garden is planted and maintained by NCARL and USDA-NRCS volunteers, as well as various community groups. The Garden demonstrates conservation practices such as cover cropping, inter-seeding, water conservation and mulch.
