Each year, the Forage and Range Research Laboratory (FRRL) performs numerous trials at sites throughout the western United States to thoroughly evaluate its varieties under production and natural conditions for factors such as yield, persistence, forage quality, drought tolerance, and disease resistance. Only the very highest performing varieties are commercialized as a result of stringent selection trialing standards which are imposed upon breeding populations.
The primary products of the FRRL are improved plant materials that include grasses, legumes, and forbs.
