KEY TO SELECTED PYRALOIDEA (LEPIDOPTERA) LARVAE INTERCEPTED AT U. S. PORTS OF ENTRY:

These pages present a key to frequently intercepted lepidopterous larvae that was designed for identifiers at U.S ports working for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA, APHIS). It includes the many changes that have occurred in the classification, nomenclature, and the nature of commodities being imported into the U.S. since its original publication in 1986. This revision is expanded to include species more recently intercepted and the classification of the included species into their respective families and subfamilies. Species are also placed in their most recent generic combinations. Distributions are updated and state whether a species occurs in Hawaii or restricted areas of the continental United States. A "Note" section for each species explains changes and additions, and gives references to further information. Two tables are provided, one to the classification of included Pyraloidea with reference to placement in the key and another to the hosts and/or commodities.
