Draft genome sequences of Streptococcus bovis strains ATCC 33317 and JB1. Genome Announcements. 2(5):e01012-14. Interpretive Summary: The present research determined that the genomic DNA sequences of the type strain of Streptococcus bovis ATCC 33317 and the ruminal isolate JB1. S. bovis has been implicated as one cause of lactic acidosis in the rumen of domestic livestock, and related strains have been shown to cause endocarditis and other diseases in humans. The genomic DNA sequences will allow more detailed comparisons of ruminal and human strains of S. bovis and benefit researchers in human and animal health and disease. Technical Abstract: We report the draft genome sequences of Streptococcus bovis type strain ATTC 33317 (CVM42251) isolated from cow dung and strain JB1 (CVM42252) isolated from a cow rumen in 1977. Strains were subjected to Next Generation sequencing and the genome sizes are approximately 2 MB and 2.2 MB, respectively. |
