Siqing Liu is a Research Molecular Biologist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. Dr. Liu received her Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She joined the USDA-ARS-NCAUR in 2002, studying cost-effective and renewable production of fuels and chemicals. Dr. Liu studies a range of microbes including E. coli, Lactobacillus species and Clostridia species in the area of microbiology, molecular biology, microbial genome, proteomics and biotechnology. Dr. Liu has been working on fermentative production of biofuels ethanol/butanol, other value-added bioproducts such as lactic acid, butyric acid as well as specific enzymes and biodegradable antibacterial proteins from lignocellulosic biomass feedstocks.
