Location: Range Management Research
Project Number: 3050-21600-001-126-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Apr 1, 2026
End Date: Jun 30, 2029
Objective:
The broad program objective is to produce visualization and data exploration tools for standard rangeland monitoring datasets and a web tool for the AERO wind erosion model. The tools will contribute to objectives of partner agencies, including the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), who use monitoring data and erosion prediction tools to inform range management.
Approach:
1. Develop the Environmental Indicator Summary Tool (EIST) functionality to enable stakeholders to query and visualize monitoring data and wind and water erosion predictions and establish and apply benchmarks.
2. Develop an AERO web tool that enables users to run the AERO model using standard monitoring data, compare scenarios, and visualize model outputs. The web tool will also bring together the rSVI-wind tool and AERO spatial predictions of wind erosion indicators as a one-stop-shop for wind erosion prediction.
3. Support ARS with the maintenance and transfer/interoperability of the EIST, rSVI-wind and AERO web tool with the Landscape Data Commons and its associated management tools.
