Research Project: Field Release and Evaluation of Ramularia crupinae for the Management of Noxious Crupina vulgaris Populations - Albany

Location: Invasive Species and Pollinator Health

Project Number: 2030-22000-033-042-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2025
End Date: Dec 30, 2026

Objective:
To release, evaluate, and optimize Ramularia crupinae applications on diverse Crupina vulgaris field populations in the western United States.

Approach:
1:) Evaluate the efficacy of Ramularia crupinae on diverse field sites located in Idaho, Oregon, and the Nez Perce Reservation, plus field sites in California. Researchers will establish and inoculate plants in field release plots and monitor infection. 2:) Evaluate potential demographic impacts of Ramularia crupinae on Crupina vulgaris populations. Researchers will establish seed addition plots within field releases. The combined data from 1) and 2) will be used to model impacts of the fungus introduction on Crupina vulgaris populations.
