Location: Commodity Protection and Quality Research
Project Number: 2034-30600-001-004-T
Project Type: Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: May 1, 2025
End Date: Apr 30, 2026
Objective:
1. To evaluate the effectiveness of the new biofungicide, natamycin, in controlling postharvest rots in stored table grapes using the standard forced-air precooling procedure; 2. To test effectiveness of natamycin in controlling Cladosporium rot on table grapes.
Approach:
Laboratory and cold storage experiments will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of new postharvest treatments in controlling gray mold and other diseases in stored table grapes. Both artificially inoculated fruit and commercially harvested fruit (naturally infected fruit) will be used for the experiments. The effects of these treatments on the fruit quality will also be assessed.
