Research Project: Field Release and Evaluation of Ramularia Crupinae for the Management of Noxious Crupina Vulgaris Populations

Location: Foreign Disease-Weed Science Research

Project Number: 8044-22000-047-022-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: May 2, 2025
End Date: Dec 30, 2026

Objective:
The objectives are to(1)continue to monitor Ramularia crupinae establishment and disease impact at previously established field sites located in Idaho, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and the Nez Perce Reservation,(2)assess the establishment and long-term impact of Ramularia crupinae infections in California and Washington, and (3) perform detailed crupina distribution surveys within the Nez Perce Tribe and Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian tribal lands.

Approach:
(i) Monitor Ramularia crupinae infections in common crupina field populations at replicated trial sites located in Idaho, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and the Nez Perce Reservation, (ii) initiate new annual and longitudinal field trials to evaluate pathogen establishment, disease pressure, and crupina population-level impact in California and Washington, and (iii) survey common crupina infestations across within the Nez Perce Tribe lands and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian tribal lands.
