State-and-transition models (STMs) housed within ecological site databases are tools used to synthesize information about sustainable land management practices that are linked to specific land areas using climate, landform, and soil mapping. Cooperator will collaborate on development of state-and-transition models (STMs) of ecosystem change, strategies for use of models in management decision-making, and making STM information available to the public. Our goal is to exchange ideas for capturing scientific knowledge on management effects in STMs, disseminate that knowledge to managers, and improve processes for development, databasing, and use of science information on ecosystem change throughout the Americas.
ARS and cooperator will collaborate on information synthesis, workshop development, design and population of web-based STM development tools, and publications.
