Objective:
Objectives for Year 1
1. Screening and testing the repellency of readily available, inexpensive, and environmentally safe repellent candidates.
2. Develop a list of carrier options that fit into the port working environment.
3. Test the selected carrier’s ability to prolong the efficacy of the snail deterrents.
Approach:
Technical Approaches include 1). Screening the repellency of additional readily available, inexpensive, and environmentally safe compounds via the developed ETG technique by ARS;
2). Evaluation of Deterrents on Snail Repellency; 3). Deterrent formulations; 4). Identify carriers that would work at ports and container yards; 5).Test commercially available carriers’ ability to retain repellants; 6). Longevity and Durability of Deterrents in Different Carriers.
