Research Project: Field-Scale SWAT+ Modeling to Support Regional Legacy P Model Development

Location: Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory

Project Number: 3098-13610-009-093-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 15, 2022
End Date: May 30, 2026

Objective:
To develop/parameterize field scale SWAT+ models of individual research sites collecting legacy phosphorus data. Aid in the development of enhanced model routines to better predict legacy phosphorus dynamics.

Approach:
Existing SWAT+ models will be adapted to better represent the conditions at each field research site. Models developed for the National Argo-ecosystems Model will be used as a starting point for these modifications. Deficiencies in SWAT+ predictions for legacy P dynamics at the field scale will be identified and addressed if possible in cooperation with the SWAT+ development team. Models will be parametrized, calibrated, and validated as needed at the field scale for each research site.
