Research Project: FY 2021 Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) - Benchmark Watershed Assessment Studies (on Croplands) Temple, TX

Location: Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory

Project Number: 3098-13610-009-089-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Jul 31, 2021
End Date: Sep 30, 2024

Objective:
Overall goals of the CEAP Watershed Assessment Studies Components are: 1) quantify the measurable effects of conservation practices at the watershed scale, 2) enhance understanding of conservation effects in the biophysical setting of a watershed, and 3) inform local water conservation strategies.

Approach:
At Riesel, crop year 2021 will be the 5th year of precision agriculture technology adoption on cropped fields. This will be sufficient data whereby precision conservation can be adopted in FY2022 in three of the cropped watershed fields (Y10, Y8 and another field to be determined at end of FY2021 crop season). CEAP-WAS funding will support adoption of precision conservation in these fields and the soil/plant/water quality assessments made during FY2022.
