Objective:
The objective is to improve the care of the plants in the collections at the National Clonal Germplasm Repository by purchasing necessary equipment and hiring additional field labor.
Approach:
The Repository will purchase an orchard sprayer and brush shredder and hire additional labor to properly maintain the germplasm. The old Repository orchard sprayer wore out and a brush shredder will create a mulch, and reduce burning previously used to remove the brush from pruning for burning. The additional labor will be used for collection maintenance. The position is needed to help with plant maintenance in the field collection at Wolfskill Experimental Orchard.
