Research Project: USDA-APHIS Owned Aircraft (1969 Cessna) Loaned to ARS for Remote Sensing Operations

Location: Aerial Application Technology Research

Project Number: 3091-22000-036-006-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 18, 2018
End Date: Oct 19, 2019

Objective:
To borrow a USDA-APHIS owned aircraft for AATRU remote sensing operations.

Approach:
APHIS will loan an aircraft (1969, Cessna 206D, N72306, SN: 206-1360) from the APHIS Mission Laboratory to the ARS College Station Research Center for remote sensing operations. An ARS-designated pilot will fly the aircraft and an ARS technician will operate camera equipment installed on the aircraft. If aerial flights are close to Mission, ARS personnel will drive to Mission to conduct the flights there. ARS personnel can also bring the aircraft to College Station for certain periods of time if aerial flights need to be conducted in locations closer to College Station. Details can be worked out based on the availability of the aircraft. The aircraft with the camera equipment will also be used to take aerial images for APHIS to meet its remote sensing needs. This will further strengthen the collaboration between APHIS and ARS.
