Effects of replacing conventional corn silage with BMR corn silage [abstract]. In: 2010 Minnesota Forage Research Symposium, November 17-18, 2010, St. Cloud, Minnesota. p. 32. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Previous research has shown that the (lignin reducing) brown mid-rib mutation in corn silage, which increases in vitro fiber digestibility, does not always improve fiber digestibility when fed as part of a TMR; however, feed intake and milk production are increased. The objectives of this experiment were to evaluate the effects of increasing potential fiber digestibility by feeding an increasing proportion of low lignin corn silage on feed intake and milk yield of high-producing dairy cows. Results from this study will be useful in determining the amount of change in potential fiber digestibility necessary to improve intake and milk yield. |
