Technical Abstract: The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is developing and implementing a web-based data system called STEWARDS (Sustaining the Earth's Watersheds – Agricultural Research Data System) to organize, document, manipulate and compile climate, water, soil, management, and economic data for assessment of conservation practices in Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP). The data system will provide one-point access to data from the twelve ARS benchmark watershed locations in well-documented and standardized formats. The data system consists of two main parts -- a central database management system for the storage and management of data, and a client application to allow users access and interact with the data. The data stored in the database can be viewed and downloaded using graphical and tabular interface tools. The framework of a prototype system for the Little Washita River Experimental Watershed data is presented. Applications of using the data system in facilitating the data visualization, watershed modeling in CEAP and decision-making are discussed.
