Interpretive Summary: Recent studies have resulted in a number of generic changes to the important pest and vector mosquito species of the very large tribe Aedini. Because of these changes it is important that a concise list of aedine genera with their abbreviations be published in a journal readily available and read by public health and mosquito control personnel. This work was conducted at the Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology of the United States Department of Agriculture, Gainesville, Florida and the Natural History Museum, London, UK. The article will be published in the Journal of the European Mosquito Control Association.

Technical Abstract: The recent study of the phylogeny of tribe Aedini resulted in the recognition of 46 genera. Two-letter abbreviations for these genera are provided along with type species.
