Interpretive Summary: These results are used by barley breeders in the winter oat growing regions of the U.S. to determine the adaptability of the best experimental lines for possible release and production.

Technical Abstract: The purpose of the Uniform Winter Oat Yield Trial (UWOYT) is to evaluate winter-habit (fall-sown) oat advanced lines for adaptation to those areas in the United States where winter oats are grown commercially. The entries in the 2004-05 UWOYT were submitted by public oat breeding programs in Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. A total of 24 entries (23 hulled and 1 (NC98-197N) hulless) were included in the trial. There were nine testing locations, with one in Prattville, AL, Sussex, DE, Quincy, FL, Baton Rouge, LA, Newton, MS, Kinston, NC, and Prosper, TX; and two locations in Georgia (Plains and Griffin).
