Interpretive Summary: With recent advances in molecular biology, the isolation of bacteriophage continues to increase. The SORVALL Discovery M150 micro-ultracentrifuge allows rapid concentration and purification of bacteriophage in a CsCl step gradient. The pure phage solution obtained via ultracentrifugation can be subsequently used for electron microscopy and protein or nucleic acid analysis. This article originated as Banding of Intact Bacteriophage Using the S100-AT6 Rotor and Discovery M150 Micro-ultracentrifuge and appeared in a Kendro Sorvall Application Brief published by Kendro Laboratory Products, Newton, CT.
