USDA Northeast Climate Hub: delivering science-based knowledge and practical information. Proceedings Dairy Environmental Systems and Climate Adaptations Conference, Ithaca, NY. July 29-30, 2015. p. 1. Interpretive Summary: An interpretive summary is not required. Technical Abstract: The USDA Northeast Climate Hub is one of seven regional hubs created in February 2014 and is a partnership among USDA and other federal agencies, universities, Tribal governments, and state and private organizations within the northeast region from Maine to West Virginia. The USDA Northeast Climate Hub is working to deliver science-based knowledge and practical information to farmers, foresters and resource managers to support decision-making related to climate and weather related risks, such as floods, droughts, extreme storms, and invasive pests. Climate variability is affecting production and strategies for adaptations are emerging in both research and practice. By identifying vulnerabilities and opportunities, discovering capacity and resources, and learning more about stakeholder perceptions and needs, the USDA NE Climate Hub is facilitating the exchange of information in order to help producers meet their goals in the face of increasing climate variability and risk. |
