Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: While there has been long-term recognition of parents' important influences on children's diet, physical activity, and screen media behaviors, these relationships have only recently received careful research attention. A problem in this research has been the quality of measurement. To address this problem, the authors organized a conference of leading investigators in regard to parenting and child energy-balance-related behaviors. This manuscript provides the consensus definition of parenting styles, feeding styles, and parenting practices among the conference attendees.
