Research Project: Collaborative Studies on the Acute Toxicity and Effectiveness of Peracetic Acid Compounds to Fish and Aquatic Disease Organisms

Location: Harry K. Dupree Stuttgart National Aquaculture Research Center

2013 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
This cooperative agreement establishes responsibilities and facilitates cooperation between the Harry K. Dupree-Stuttgart National Aquaculture Research Center, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and the Department of Aquaculture and Ecophysiology at Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries to collaborate in planning research, data collection, and data analyses to determine toxicity and effectiveness of peracetic acid compounds to fish and aquatic disease organisms.

1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Signatories to this agreement will collaborate jointly to determine the toxicity and effectiveness of peracetic acid compounds to fish and aquatic disease organisms by developing and exchanging data corresponding to the specialty of each lab.

3.Progress Report:

This research is designed to study the toxicity/effectiveness of peracetic acid to fish and the effectiveness of this compound to control Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Ichthyobodo necator, Flavobacterium columnare, and Saprolegnia spp. on fish.
