Joon Hee Lee

Research Agricultural Engineer

Dr. Joon Hee Lee joined the staff of the Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory in June 2012.  Dr. Lee is a headquarters-funded postdoc working on the oilseed to jet fuel project.  His major tasks are modeling economic and environmental impact of bio jet fuel feed stack with Dr. David Archer.  His previous research area was water quality modeling.  This included erosion simulation within irrigated crop areas in southern Idaho with ARS, Kimberly, ID and statistical modeling to evaluate the effects of conservation practice on water quality (especially phosphorus load) in a Northern Utah’s agricultural area with Utah Water Research Laboratory.  His experiences contain computational modeling such as APEX, ALMANAC, SWAT and Win-SRFR.  He also conducted statistical analysis including long term trend, correlation and seasonality of water quality and quantity parameters with censored data in Northern Utah.  His master’s research was industrial wastewater treatment in South Korea.  He also managed the production processes, and wastewater and off gas treatment process as a process engineer in South Korea.
