Mission

The mission of the Plant Gene Expression Center is to provide the knowledge base to breeders and growers that allows for increased plant productivity and improved quality characteristics, and thus enhanced overall plant fitness and yield. We develop this foundation by using cutting-edge genomic and genetic technologies to characterize and augment the developmental mechanisms responsible for plant productivity and quality traits, and to increase the ability of plants and their associated microbiomes to respond to environmental stimuli, stresses, and pathogens. Through this work, we continue our distinguished tradition of training the next generation of scientists and of actively fostering diversity, equity and inclusion throughout our research groups and support staff.
The Plant Gene Expression Center is located in Albany, CA and is part of the Pacific West Area.
The Center Director is Devin Coleman-Derr.
