Saseendran S. Anapalli has a doctorate in ‘Soil and Crop Sciences’ (limited irrigation water management and system modeling) from the Colorado State University, USA, before that he acquired a doctorate in ‘Water Resources’ (emphasis on micrometeorology and modeling) from the Jawaharlal Technological University, India.
His research in SWMRU focusses on quantifying water requirements of cropping systems using eddy covariance and energy balance techniques and mechanistic modeling, emphasizing a system approach in experiments and data collection. Another focus is on assessing the evolving water availability and water demand scenarios in cropping systems in response to the current and future - GCM projected - climate variability and change, using agricultural system models. In the past, at the Agricultural Systems Research Unit of USDA, Fort Collins he conducted research for the development and improvement of agricultural systems models as a tool for developing decision support information for managing limited irrigation water in the Great Plains cropping systems for maximum production, adapting to the location-specific climate variability related uncertainties.
