TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Dr. Du is currently doing research on insect physiology and toxicology, which focus on the study of insecticide modes of action, mechanisms of resistance to insecticides, resistance management of pesticides, and insecticide discovery, and the impacts of management actions against pests and other non-target organisms. Her major objectives include risk assessment of pesticide efficacy, residues, additive/synergistic toxicity of pesticide mixtures, pesticide resistance development, and characterization of resistance mechanisms. The ultimate result of her studies will be successful and sustainable population management of key arthropod pests of major crops grown in the region (including cotton, corn, sweet potato and soybean), especially those targeted for control with insecticides and transgenic crops.
