Dr. Ned C. Edwards, Jr is currently a Category 3 Support Scientist (Horticulturist) at the USDA ARS Thad Cochran Southern Horticultural Laboratory, Poplarville, MS. Ned obtained his B.S. in Agricultural Education at Mississippi State University (1964) and M.S. in Agronomy at Mississippi State University (1966) and his Ph.D. in Plant and Soil Science at University of Tennessee (1970). His work experience includes employment as an Agronomist and Assistant Superintendent at Mississippi State University’s Brown Loam Branch Experiment, Raymond, MS, (1970-1989), Superintendent and Agronomist at Mississippi State University’s South Mississippi Branch Experiment Station in Poplarville (1989-2002). In 2002, he assumed his current position with the USDA ARS Thad Cochran Southern Horticultural Laboratory. His research efforts are in support of scientists in the Genetics team. Ned has over 49 years of research experience in plant production and pest management. He has written numerous manuscripts and made oral presentation at local, state and national levels.
